‘Stay’ is an interesting one…
We often ask our dog to ‘sit’ or to ‘down’ and then also ask then to ‘stay’ or ‘wait’.
This is the perfect opportunity to reflect on what ‘sit’ means to your dog. If sit means sit until I ask you to do something else (which might be relax/do your own thing i.e. be ‘released’) then we don’t need ‘stay’ or ‘wait’ – they are unnecessary – as long as ‘sit’ means sit.
